Hit the ground..

Liz Wright...one of my new favorites. Makes me want to sink into a chair, watch a sunset, pour a glass of wine and light up a ...(just kidding on the last one!) ;)

Spent the weekend in Palm Springs with the girls. Nice and relaxing. Back home by early afternoon and got to the chores. I really feel ramped for the new week. I took a few days off last week, and I feel ready to go. Ran 4 miles on Sat. morning. The desert is beautiful in the morning. Crystal clear, 70 and peaceful.

Friday I fly to Hi for a weekend work conference. A quick turn around trip and come home Monday. I feel for the folks coming from the east coast. They have a killer flight..over 10 hours. OUCH! Hopefully most of them extended the trip and took some vacation time.

Not much to say...catching up on blogs and getting ready for the week. Happy, healthy and nothing but smiles. Have a great week!!

Counting Sheep

O.K.....It's 2:30AM and I'm blogging. To bed @ 10 thinking I'd be waking up at 5 for the gym. Two o'clock rolls around and I'm awake for good. ARGGGGGG!!! The last year this has happened more than once and I'm not liking it. I have a new manager at work and although so far so good, I wake up thinking about everything I need to make happen. If I can't fall asleep after this, I'll cut my losses, stay up and go into the office extra early.

This week I've had good workouts. Ran with the Nike folks on Sunday. 4 miles, 8.75 pace. Monday was 40 minutes cardio and 40 minutes weights. Tuesday 45 minutes cardio. Took a break on Wednesday and I think I'll do the same today. I'm making the effort to scale it back a little. I'm feeling slightly stressed fitting everything I'd like into my days, and my life at this point is beautiful....healthy, nothing to prove and balance is key. I'm all about rockin the boat, but not with this.

And what the %#&@? My left knee has this weird twang kind of thing going when I bend down. Not every time, but once in a while it catches and feels like an internal rubber band is stretching across my knee cap. Hmmmmmm. I made an appointment with the Orthopedic guy next week hoping it's nothing.

Well, some of you may be getting up by now, and I'll desperately try to get back to sleep for a few hours. I can always try watching O.J. coverage on CNN. If that doesn't do it I'm not sure what will. ;)

A whole lot of nothing......

As far as training....this is what's been happening. I thought I'd get a chance to work out in San Francisco but no go. Training class all day, everyone wants to have dinner at night so I politely go. I have a couple of drinks, stay out past my bedtime then to tired to get up for my usual morning workout. I made a promise to myself...When I travel, working out in the morning comes first.

I was able to go to a couple of new restaurants in San Francisco. I love that city! I stayed at the Harbor Court, around the corner from the Ferry Building. A great little boutique hotel...very small with a cool vibe. San Francisco is a great walking city to. If it's too far to walk, the BART will get you where you want to go. No chance of that in So Cal.

I'm a Monday kind of girl. Monday is a new week...a fresh start. That's when I like to get back into the groove of things. I'll spend the weekend catching up then hit it on Monday. Have a great weekend, train safely and make it fun!

An apple a day...

Back to reality and it outside of a crazy work week it wasn't to bad. I got back over a week ago late Thurs eve and decided I'd do a 7 day fast starting Friday. I'd have to the long weekend and end it yesterday. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it might be. Some protein powder twice a day and a simple dinner. Plenty of raw fruits/veggies when ever I wanted. Apples were big on my list....I just love em! Yesterday ended the (modified) fast and I feel great. Lighter and feeling like I should continue cautiously with what I decide to put in my body. I was surprised it didn't effect my workouts. I thought I might feel more tired or weak...but not once. Here is what filled my week:

Elliptical: 40 miles
Weights: 5 hours
Stretching/Pilates: 1:30

Sunday I leave for San Francisco and a 3 day training conference. I was able to book a flight with a 10 hour lay over. That's right....my flight flies to from O.C. to Portland, (I'll have all day to spend with Mike), then leaves from Portland to The City in the evening. Pretty sharp thinkin, huh? I'm staying in a small boutique hotel and the Y is right next door. Couldn't have worked out better.

Back again late next week but I'll be reading. Be well!

Until further notice: Celebrate Everything!

The title phrase was printed on the bottom of our receipt from lunch at the Dream Cafe, Pentiction, BC. Gotta love it!

Back from Canada and Mike had a great Ironman. I'll let you read his race report for yourself. I took my new Canon Rebel XT with the 'super duper lens' and did my best to get some good shots. The trip was great. I flew to Portland and we carpooled with Mikes training buddy Steven and his wife Karen. These kinds of road trips can be really fun or disastrous....We had nothing but fun! We split the drive up into 2 days with an overnight stay at a B&B in Washington. It was great to spend time with Karen and I think we really hit it off. After the race we took off Tuesday morning for Portland and drove straight through. That gave Mike and I 2 days together then back to SoCal for me. Here are a few shots from the race.
The crowd waiving to the helicopters filming the live coverage of the race, Mike going out on the run & bike.

Mike coming in for the finish and a little "See ya next year" wave.
.

After all that...I'm somewhat of a celebrity in my world. I've been in several Toyota photo shoots and a commercial (that I never saw) which aired back east. Well, they chose to use me in a print add for 7 nationally published automotive industry magazines. It runs now through the end of the year. Lot's of ribbing and requests to sign copies. One of my dealers even made a poster out of it with the heading 'Debbie-polooza summer tour 2007'. Everyone had fun with it, but at the end of the day not bad exposure for the gal wanting to transfer to the Portland Region. I'll take the ribbing...
Now to get caught up on blogs and prepare to re-enter the real world. Damn.....
